Means Test Algorithm

The value of each Scholarship awarded is determined by computing the Adjusted Disposal Assets (ADA) of the applicant’s household using the algorithm shown below.

Assets include

Deposits, net value of properties owned (but excluding the unit resided in), investments (including securities, bonds, funds, insurance contracts with saving value and net worth of businesses owned) etc.

Household income will include

(1) Parents’ annual income, e.g. salary/bonus (full time and part-time), regular income from pensions but excluding lump sum payments, net rental income, profits and dividends from businesses owned; and
(2) 30% of the annual income of unmarried siblings living in the same household.

Household Expenditure is calculated to include

(1) Annual school fees, net of scholarship or subsidies, of unmarried siblings living in the same household;
(2) Annual mortgage or rental payments of the unit resided in;
(3) Significant medical expenses of household members; and
(4) Annual living expenses, estimated to be HK$60,000 per household member

Based on the ADA, the level of award will be determined according to the following table:
